Report: Club now agree deal to sign two players in the same position as Newcastle United target

Newcastle United will hope that Nottingham Forest’s latest move in the transfer market boosts their quest to land Anthony Elanga.

Elanga is a Newcastle United target, as Eddie Howe aims to provide Jacob Murphy with more competition on the right of attack.

The 23-year-old would offer that, but a deal will be difficult. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Nottingham Forest do not want to sell Elanga, as they get set to compete in next season’s UEFA Conference League.

Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign two wingers

Ahead of their return to Europe, Nottingham Forest are preparing to bolster their squad.

There could soon be attacking reinforcements arriving at the City Ground, with ESPN reporting that Forest have agreed a double deal with Juventus to sign Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula.

The report states that the total price for the two deals is around £19million, with personal terms yet to be agreed.

Newcastle United will hope that opens the door to sign Anthony Elanga

But where do Newcastle United factor into this? Well, both Weah and Mbangula are wingers. The former primarily plays off the right, while the latter is a left-sider who is capable of operating on both flanks.

Forest are stocking up on wingers, which Newcastle United will hope opens the door for Elanga to move to Tyneside.

However, that could be pure fantasy. Forest are not going to sell Elanga unless the Magpies meet their asking price. He is not going to be cheap, as is always the case with Premier League proven players.

Newcastle value Elanga at £35million, which will not be enough to strike a deal for the Sweden international.

The fact that Forest do have extra depth out wide could potentially facilitate an exit for Elanga, but that is only going to become a reality if Newcastle make them an offer they cannot refuse. Until then, Forest will be planning for a future that heavily involves Elanga.
