The Man Utd veteran was set to leave the club next week but will instead remain in a new role.
Jonny Evans is set to remain at Manchester United in a new staff role after he was not handed a fresh playing contract by Ruben Amorim. The 37-year-old was named on the club's retained list and is officially set to leave the club as a player when his current deal expires next week.
Evans will retire from professional football after a glittering career that saw him make 538 senior appearances for five club, 241 of which came during two spells with United. The Northern Ireland international won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, an FA Cup, a Champions League and a Club World Cup during his Old Trafford career and was awarded an MBE in 2023.
The United great will effectively become the club's new loan manager after Les Parry left the club last November. Evans will be tasked with identifying appropriate clubs to send youth players to and keep tabs on their progress.

Three players will leave the club next week
Manchester United will say farewell to three first-team players next week when their contracts officially come to an end. Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen are all set to depart as free agents after they were not handed new deals by the club.
Lindelof and Eriksen are both eager to carry on playing and are currently exploring the various options available to them, while Evans will remain at Old Trafford in his new youth development role.
Taking to social media after he played his final game for the club in their 2-0 final day win over Aston Villa, Evans' wife Helen shared an emotional post. The MUTV presenter reflected fondly on her husband's playing career after they met during his first spell with the club back in 2013.
"12 years later, 8 year break in the middle and 3 kids added to the squad... over and out OT!," Helen wrote in her post. "Best fans in the world."
