Manchester United’s pursuit of a new centre-forward continues to dominate the summer transfer narrative, with Ruben Amorim still without a clear successor to Rasmus Hojlund in the No 9 role.
After missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea and falling behind in the race for Viktor Gyokeres due to Arsenal’s growing interest, United’s forward search has reached a tense stage.
Bryan Mbeumo remains a firm target, though Brentford’s demands and competition from rival clubs have complicated negotiations.

Meanwhile, plans to bring in a midfielder and a right-sided defender are still in motion, but Amorim’s focus remains fixed on securing a consistent goalscorer before the new campaign kicks off.
Now, Manchester United may have fresh hope in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres — and it’s all due to a dramatic standoff unfolding in Lisbon.
The Swedish international is reportedly furious with Sporting Lisbon over what he and his agent claim was a broken promise to allow a summer move for €60 million.
Viktor Gyokeres, who scored an astonishing 97 goals over two seasons in Portugal, has grown disillusioned with Sporting’s reluctance to accept lower bids, despite interest from Arsenal and Juventus.

According to reports from A Bola, Gyokeres is now considering the nuclear option of refusing to report for pre-season training — a full-blown strike — in protest.
The 27-year-old has already sent direct messages to Sporting president Frederico Varandas, expressing his frustration and reiterating his desire to leave.
Varandas, however, has remained defiant, stating: “The Sporting president cannot be blackmailed.
“He will not leave for €60m + €10m. That won’t happen, and the agent’s threats only make it worse.”
While his official release clause sits at €100 million, Sporting are reportedly willing to negotiate closer to €80 million — but are refusing to honour the agent’s alleged €60 million agreement.
United are closely monitoring developments and may look to pounce if the situation worsens and Arsenal fail to meet Sporting’s demands.
For Gyokeres, who is under contract until 2028, the Premier League remains his ultimate ambition — and with a player pushing this hard to leave, United’s path could soon clear.
