Nottingham Forest agree 'double swoop' which could open door for Anthony Elanga to move to…

· 24 June 2025, 13:30

**Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed a double transfer with Juventus for two forwards, which could be news to Newcastle United's ears.**

According to [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/45570393/forest-agree-deal-juventus-weah-mbangula), Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement with Juventus for Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula for a deal worth around €22 million (£18.7 million).

Timothy Weah plays down the right flank and has covered all down the right side for Juventus, while Mbangula can play all across the front three with a preference for playing on the left.

The versatility of both players could mean that Nottingham Forest will be more open to an approach from Newcastle for Swedish winger Anthony Elanga.

Anthony Elanga looking for that bid from Newcastle

Nottingham Forest's double transfer is a green light to Newcastle for Anthony Elanga

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newcastle have been waiting patiently for Anthony Elanga after having a £50 million bid rejected on deadline day last summer. Nottingham Forest managed to keep hold of him again in January when Tottenham started to show interest.

While Forest maintains Elanga is not for sale, the arrival of two players who can play in his position would suggest they are preparing for life without the former Manchester United ace.

There's still work to be done by Forest to get the Juventus double deal over the line, but should it come off, that definitely feels like a green light for Newcastle.

Newcastle and Tottenham both want Anthony Elanga

------------------------------------------------

No doubt it still won't be an easy deal to get done as Forest will want top dollar for Elanga and Newcastle will demand a bargain, so there will be some negotiating to be done first.

After giving up on Bryan Mbeumo it feels like Elanga is Newcastle's first choice, and the fact that he plays alongside Alexander Isak at international level definitely makes this a move that makes sense.

Hopefully, the two parties can come to a quick agreement, as Newcastle will not be the only club interested in the Swede. Tottenham are still thought to be keen, and they can also offer Champions League football despite only just surviving relegation (but hyperbolic, sure, but not much).
