Felgueiras midfielder Vasco Moreira has admitted that he has been watching Nottingham Forest’s Jota Silva with interest and would love to replicate his career path.
[Record have an interview](https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/2--liga/felgueiras/detalhe/vasco-moreira-jota-silva-e-um-exemplo-ao-qual-me-posso-agarrar?ref=V%C3%ADdeos_Ultimas) with the 24-year-old today in which he insists that Silva is an example he wishes to follow.
Moreira joined Liga Portugal 2 side Felgueiras on a free transfer last summer after coming through Porto, Rio Ave and Braga’s youth systems without any success.
This season was his first at a proper professional level as he looks to finally get his career on track and heading in the right direction.
He’s taking inspiration from the Nottingham Forest winger on that front, with his career path having gone in a similar direction.
The 25-year-old has taken the lesser trodden path to the Premier League and Portuguese national team, working his way between Sousense and Pacos Ferreira before moving to Espinho, Leixões and Casa Pia.
He then joined Vitoria Guimarães in 2022 and his performances there convinced Nottingham Forest to pay €7m for him in August 2024. He also made his debut for the Portuguese national team in March 2024, playing 27 minutes against Sweden before a one-minute appearance against Slovenia five days later.
Moreira takes inspiration from that and would love to see his career go in the same direction as the Nottingham Forest man.
_“He’s really is an example, Jota has gone through the secondary championships but always worked and now he’s reaping the rewards of it,”_ he said.
_“He has proven that he works, he is in the Premier League, which is perhaps one of the most hostile contexts, but the mental part is really very important, and he puts very high goals for himself._
_“He’s an example I can hold onto, because he managed to reach the national team around my age.”_
