Andre Onana remains intent on staying at Manchester United and will only consider leaving if the club want to sell him.

Onana has been preparing under the assumption he will still be at United next season and coach Ruben Amorim wants to keep the 29-year-old.

Monaco have been linked with a move for Onana after they qualified for the Champions League by finishing third in Ligue 1 last season.

United have not budgeted to recruit a new No.1 amid their focus on enhancing their attack and staff at the club have offered private backing for Onana.

Onana has failed to live up this game-changing billing since he moved to United from Inter Milan for £47.2million in July 2023. He committed costly errors in the Premier League defeats to Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Brighton last season before he was culpable for both of Lyon's goals in United's 2-2 Europa League quarter-final first leg draw in April.

On the eve of that game, the Lyon midfielder Nemanja Matic dubbed Onana "one of the worst goalkeepers in the history of Man United" after the Cameroonian claimed United were "way better" than Lyon. Amorim rested Onana for United's next match away to Newcastle United.

Onana is under contract at United until 2028 and the club would require a fee of £28.32million to sell him without making a loss under the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules.

Onana's switch to the LIAN Sports Group agency earlier this year was not with a view to a summer transfer.

He has played 101 times for United and kept 24 clean sheets.
