Amadou Onana has described Marcus Rashford as a "humble guy" and utterly "refreshing" after the England forward's loan spell at Aston Villa. The 27-year-old had fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim and relished the chance to show off what he could do in fresh surroundings.
As a result, he hit the ground running with four goals and six assists across 17 matches, while also having a positive impact on teammates. Reflecting on his experience playing alongside Rashford at Villa Park, Onana told The Inside Scoop: "Refreshing bro. You know when someone touches the ball, you can tell they've been there, they've played at the highest level.
"If you remember the PSG [vs] United [game] back then, that Marcus Rashford. And with some of the things he does, you just know, 'Yeah, you've been there. You know what you're doing and you know what you're talking about.' Really, really cool guy. Humble guy.
"It's a pleasure to share the dressing room with people like that, you know? Cause he's a good guy, and an amazing player - and someone that I personally, in my young age, can learn a lot from."
Rashford now returns to Manchester United but faces an uncertain future as rumours suggest he may not feature in Amorim's plans for the new season. The homegrown talent may be on the move as the Portuguese head coach seeks to inject new life into the squad he took over from Erik ten Hag.
Rashford himself may also have reservations about playing for a team that won't be competing in the Champions League in 2025/26, especially as he aims to regain his place in the England squad under Thomas Tuchel. The forward was rumoured to be holding out for a move to Barcelona this summer, but with the La Liga heavyweights nearing a deal for Athletic Club's Nico Williams and Copenhagen's Roony Bardghji, Rashford's chances of a move appear to be dwindling by the day.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also reportedly keen on securing Rashford's services at St. James' Park on a loan deal for the 2025/26 season. But as United are more inclined towards a permanent departure for Rashford, it remains uncertain whether they would agree to a temporary move to the Magpies.
