Arsenal should try to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton to replace Thomas Partey this summer.
The Gunners have made one of the bigger mistakes by letting Thomas Partey’s contract run low, it is due to expire at the end of the month, and Arsenal are in talks over a new short-term deal. However, it is understood that the talks aren’t close to resolution, and its more likely that Partey will leave on a free transfer.

Assuming that is the case, the Gunners will need to find a replacement for Partey this summer. They have already secured the signing of Martin Zubimendi to replace Jorginho (it will be announced at the start of July). But it now seems that they need to replace Partey.
Arsenal should replace Partey with Adam Wharton
One player that Arsenal were linked to last summer is Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who has also been linked to rivals Manchester City in the past.
BBC Sport reported at the time that Palace had a £54.1m price tag on Wharton, and that Arsenal were in talks over a potential deal. However, there has been no links between Arsenal and Wharton yet this summer.
The England international would be the perfect replacement for Partey, as he is tall and physical, but also very confident on the ball, and defensively strong. He would be able to partner up with Zubimendi, Rice and Odegaard to create one of if not the best midfield in the Premier League.
Last season, Wharton made 27 appearances for Palace, and at the age of just 21, he isn’t only a Partey replacement, but also a player for the future. He could be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in five years’ time.
Furthermore, if Arsenal were able to bring him in, it would prevent rivals from signing the 21-year-old, something that the Gunners need to consider if they want to maximize their chances of winning the Premier League title.
