Report: Ruben Amorim has personally told Man United to sign £51m player who had agreed a move…

In the summer of 2025, both Manchester City and Manchester United are in the pursuit of rebuilding their respective squads.

Manchester United were interested in Rayan Cherki, who City have signed alongside Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli as their roster has been reshaped nicely.

Ruben Amorim rates Pep Guardiola highly and believes he is the “best coach in the world” as next season, the Catalan’s Sky Blues side could challenge for the Premier League title again.

As for Manchester United, they have signed one of the Premier League’s best strikers in Matheus Cunha but even so, they look miles away from achieving anything significant in the following campaign.

Ruben Amorim requested Man United to sign Man City target Diogo Costa

However, one area where both Manchester City and United might need to strengthen is in between the sticks.

Ederson Moraes could leave Manchester City despite Pep Guardiola confirming that he will stay at the club next season and at Old Trafford, Andre Onana is one of the Red Devils’ weakest links.

A Bola have reported that Ruben Amorim has told Manchester United to sign an experienced goalkeeper like Diogo Costa, who agreed to join Manchester City but it seems like the move broke down.

However, the report mentions that in the event Ederson departs the Etihad Stadium in the summer, City remain interested in signing the Portuguese number one.

Porto president Andre Villas-Boas is open to selling Costa for a fee below his €75 million (£63.9 million) release clause and a deal could go through for a fee of €60 million (£51.1 million).

How Diogo Costa now feels about Premier League move

Only time will tell whether one out of the two Manchester clubs sign the 25-year-old.

The report claims that Costa would like to play in the Premier League as it is one of the most-watched divisions in the world, which is good news for both Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, the Porto goalkeeper would like to increase his weekly wages despite being one of Liga Portugal’s highest-paid players but considering there have been no offers to sign Ederson, it seems increasingly likely that he will stay put next season.
