Report: Arsenal make contact to sign £300,000-a-week Man Utd star in surprise move

Arsenal have made an enquiry to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who has returned to the club following his loan spell with Chelsea, according to CaughtOffside.

Sancho has struggled to make an impact since his move to Old Trafford, and he was sent on loan during the 2024/2025 season. The £300,000-a-week earner wasn't signed permanently by Chelsea, and he's now likely to move on once again, with United manager Ruben Amorim clearly not seeing him as part of his plans.

Although Sancho helped Chelsea lift the Conference League trophy and qualify for the Champions League, he was far from a guaranteed starter under Enzo Maresca. The fact that the Blues opted against signing him permanently is telling, and he's now in search of another move as he hopes to revive his career.

They are yet to follow up with their enquiry

CaughtOffside have now claimed that Arsenal have made an enquiry over potentially signing United forward Sancho, but they are yet to follow up with their contact. It's a bit of a surprise move considering Sancho's struggles in recent years, and the fact that we don't see players move between the two clubs very often.

Arsenal are likely to be in the market for a new winger in the summer transfer window, but a deal for Sancho might not make a lot of sense. The Gunners tried a similar move with Raheem Sterling last summer. A winger who was struggling for form and on significant wages, and it didn't work out for Sterling at the Emirates.

There's no doubt Sancho is a talented player and there is a reason why United forked out a hefty fee to secure his signature, but there is an argument to suggest that he's better suited to leagues such as the Bundesliga rather than England's top flight.
