Syracuse offers legacy recruit, son of Super Bowl champion

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse is continuing to honor its legends of the past under Fran Brown as the Orange continue the trend of offering legacy recruits.

Brown himself offered Christian Brothers (New York) defensive lineman Arthur Jones IV during a visit last Saturday, eight days before Jones’ father is set to participate in the NFL Alumni Upstate New York Chapter Charity Golf Tournament at Timber Banks Golf Club in Balwinsville.

Jones III played defensive lineman for Syracuse from 2006-09, playing in all but four regular season games for the Orange. From 2007-08, he had 31 tackles for loss. Although the Orange went 13-35 during Jones III’s tenure, he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Jones III spent four years with the Ravens at the height of their Super Bowl window, which included winning Baltimore’s second championship in 2012.

Now, the Jones family is back in Central New York and Jones IV is attempting to follow in his father’s footsteps. Syracuse is currently the only program to offer Jones IV, and his position coach if things don’t change by 2028 will be Brown’s best friend and defensive coordinator, Elijah Robinson.

Jones IV won the AA New York state championship as a freshman in 2024 and now has the chance to suit up at his father’s alma mater.
