Chelsea plotting swap deal to land Joao Pedro

Chelsea are keen to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Brazilian striker is also wanted by Newcastle United. As a result, the Blues are plotting a swap deal to sign him ahead of Magpies.

Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. The 22 year old costed them only £30 million. Hence, they are ready to sign another striker. But, the Blues want a very different profile this time than Delap. They want a versatile striker who can replace Nkunku and Joao Felix.

The Blues were linked with Hugo Ekitike of Frankfurt. But, the German giants want as much as €100 million for him. Hence, Enzo Maresca’s men have turned their attention to other players. Currently, they are linked with Joao Pedro of Brighton.

Pedro has been very good for the Seagulls in recent seasons. He is able to play as all winger, striker and attacking midfielder. Brighton are open to sell him if they receive around €70 million. Chelsea are keen to sign him but are joined by Newcastle United in the race.

Chelsea have plan ready to sign Joao Pedro

According to Simon Phillips, the Blues have plan ready to sign Pedro ahead of Newcastle. They are plotting a swap deal where they are ready to send one of their midfielder in opposition direction. The player linked with exit from West London is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea signed Dewsbury-Hall only in last summer. They paid £30 million for him but the deal has not worked out. He has not been able to play regularly due to the presence of other quality midfielders. Hence, he can be open to move away this summer.

Chelsea have already signed Darrio Essugo whereas Andrey Santos has also returned from loan. This reduces the chances of Dewsbury-Hall even further. Hence, a sale is very likely this summer with multiple English clubs showing interest.
