Liverpool Have 2 Alternatives Lined Up If They Fail To Land Marc Guehi

Liverpool are expected to make a move for a new centre-half as and when Jarell Quansah completes his switch to Bayer Leverkusen.

The current favourite to replace him is Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but any deal for the England international hinges on his asking price.

Guehi has a year left on his contract at Selhurst Park and it has been suggested that the Reds won’t pay more than £30m for the 24-year-old.

If they fail in their attempts to snap up the player, the Merseysiders are expected to move on to other targets and The Athletic have named two alternatives who could be approached.

Liverpool could join the battle for an Ajax player

Jorrel Hato is someone who has been regularly linked with a switch to Anfield over the past few months. He was originally mentioned as a potential option at left-back due to the fact that he spent most of his time playing in that position last season.

However, many feel that the teenager will end up being a centre-back. Both Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly made enquiries for Hato already so it remains to be seen if the Reds will enter the mix too.

An expensive Premier League alternative to Guehi

In addition to Hato, it is believed that Liverpool’s scouting department are big fans of Nottingham Forest’s Murillo. The Brazilian formed a strong partnership with Nikola Milenkovic last campaign as the Tricky Trees finished 7th in the table.

The Athletic claim the biggest stumbling block in making a move for the defender is his price tag. Arne Slot’s side currently deem his valuation too high.

From the looks of things, they want to use the proceeds from selling Quansah on his replacement but that will limit the club’s options in the transfer market.
