Nick Kyrgios is ready to ditch his Tottenham allegiances in protest of Ange Postecoglou's exit – and joked he might start supporting Arsenal instead.

The former Celtic boss famously won the Europa League last season, delivering on his confident promise that he always wins things in his second year.

But ending their 17-year wait for a major trophy wasn't enough to save his skin with owner Daniel Levy brutally wielding the axe just days later.

It was a widely unpopular decision and Kyrgios, who shares Postecoglou's Greek-Aussie heritage, isn't pleased to see him go.

The former world No.13, currently in the midst of a break from tennis, says the only reason he ramped up his support for the North London club was because of Postecoglou.

And now he's been axed, he might switch his allegiances in protest.

Kyrgios told talkSPORT: “Half the reason why I do like Tottenham is because of Ange so I’m not sure. I think I might have to jump on the Arsenal bandwagon.

“I played a lot of FIFA (video game) in the past so I’m not sure my supporting cast to Tottenham ever meant much.

“Yeah, I’ll jump on the Arsenal bandwagon.”

After waiting so long for a trophy, Spurs will get the chance to win their second of this year when they face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup in August.

That will be new boss Thomas Frank's first competitive game in charge and the new man at the helm has spoken out in support of his predecessor.

He told Sky Sports: "I think Ange has done something special. He'll forever be a legend in Tottenham.

"It's important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. I'm going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I'm very humble about that. I'll do my very best to continue the great work he put in.

"The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans' faces, the pictures were 'wow'. Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that."
