Bryan Mbeumo joining Man United will put an end to potential £52m Premier League deal

Manchester United are hoping to get a deal over the line for Bryan Mbeumo in the next few days.

Preparation for the 2025/26 season is underway and Manchester United’s pre-season training begins on July 7th before the squad travels to Sweden and the United States.

Ideally, Ruben Amorim wants signings to arrive before pre-season, which puts Ineos on a strict deadline to get transfer business done quickly.

After an initial bid was rejected, United submitted a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo this weekend, believed to be in excess of £60 million.

The Red Devils will hope to hear back from their Bryan Mbeumo bid shortly, and the answer will have a significant impact.

Bryan Mbeumo deal will end Man United interest in Christopher Nkunku

It was clear that United needed to overhaul their attacking options this summer with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony expected to leave, as well as potentially Alejandro Garnacho.

Matheus Cunha kickstarted the rebuild by joining on the first day of the window, and Mbeumo’s arrival will give Amorim even more depth in the No.10 position.

Therefore, if a deal for Mbeumo does get completed, there will be no need for United to continue showing interest in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

United have made contact with Chelsea over Nkunku, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano addressing a rumoured swap deal with Nkunku and Garnacho this summer.

United have had a long-term interest in Nkunku dating back to when he was recommended as a signing by Ralf Rangnick. Since his £52m move to Chelsea, he has struggled to make an impact.

Man United only need two signings after Bryan Mbeumo

With no European football next season, Amorim can afford to trim his squad considerably this summer, although sales are so far proving to be difficult.

Cunha and Mbeumo complete two-thirds of an attacking overhaul, as United will also want a new striker to arrive before the window closes.

After that, Amorim wants an “athletic midfielder” to be signed this summer following the release of Christian Eriksen.

Signing a new first-choice striker and a midfielder will address the big holes in Amorim’s squad, and other signings will only be needed depending on the number of sales.

For example, another goalkeeper will be needed if either Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir is sold, while selling Rasmus Hojlund could also push Ineos to sign yet another forward this summer.
