Whether it’s college basketball or the NBA, Grant Hill won’t be hard to find next season.
As it continues to round out its NBA coverage, NBC announced that it has hired Hill as a game analyst. The Hall of Fame forward’s hiring adds to his already hefty work slate, which also includes a role as a lead college basketball analyst for TNT (and CBS for the NCAA Tournament), as well as his position as USA Basketball’s managing director.
“I’m incredibly excited to join NBC Sports as part of their NBA coverage. The NBA has been such a meaningful part of my life, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing the game I love with fans across the country,” Hill said in a statement. “To be part of NBC’s return to the NBA — a network with such a rich basketball legacy — and its debut on Peacock is truly an honor. I can’t wait to get started this fall.”

The hiring of Grant Hill certainly fits the strategy that NBC has deployed heading into its return as an NBA rightsholder, with a direction that has leaned heavily on 1990s nostalgia. In addition to the return of the popular “Roundball Rock” anthem, the network has also hired Reggie Miller and Brad Daugherty as analysts, as well as some special contributor named Michael Jordan.
While Miller is expected to serve as the network’s lead analyst alongside play-by-play man Mike Tirico, NBC’s broadcast pairings aren’t set in stone. And considering his own statue as one of basketball’s preeminent analysts, one would imagine that Grant Hill will be a part of his fair share of high profile games.
How many? That will ultimately depend on the details of his contract (which aren’t currently public) as well as his obligations elsewhere (of which there are many). But for now, NBC can boast about the addition of one of basketball’s best analysts, who was a regular presence on its airwaves the last time it laid claim to NBA rights.
