Report: Leeds plotting new bid to sign ‘insane’ star for Farke, he’s the 49ers top target

Leeds United could return for a second bid to land Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz in the coming days, according to reports - despite the Cottagers standing firm in their hopes of keeping ahold of the Brazilian talisman after another strong season in the Premier League.

Leeds owners 49ers Enterprises are prepared to chuck money at a survival bid after winning the Championship last season, already spending £15million on Udinese defender Jaka Bijol earlier in the week, and more incomings are set to follow. But despite links to the likes of Callum Wilson and Everton striker Beto, Muniz appears to be their top target and Farke could test their resolve with another bid.

But Fulham remain confident of keeping their man this summer

Rodrigo Muniz in action for Fulham

The report by Football Insider says that Fulham are confident of pricing Leeds out of a move to sign Muniz this summer, having already turned down a bid of £26million rising to £32million from the Whites, who are keen to add the Brazilian to their attacking ranks as their star striker and 'top target'.

However, Daniel Farke and his recruitment team could still return with another offer in a bid to test Fulham's nerve, despite Fulham's confidence in keeping the former Flamengo star in west London.

Fulham only have Raul Jimenez and Muniz as their out-and-out striking options at present, meaning that Marco Silva is reluctant to let him go - but Leeds have kept him as their top striker target, and could pursue him until they know they aren't going to close a deal for his services.

Muniz, labelled as 'insane', has one year left on his deal, though the Cottagers have the option to extend that for a year - and with 17 goals in 57 top-flight appearances, it's easy to see why they want to keep hold of him.

For Leeds, Farke will want competition for Joel Piroe, who was the Championship's top goalscorer last season. The former Swansea City boss has proven time and time again that he is too good for the Championship, but this will be his first berth in the Premier League and so some nous will be needed for Farke to try to guide Leeds away from any relegation woes and into a second successive Premier League season.
