Over the next two months, Ruben Amorim is going to need to make a decision on countless Manchester United players.
With a bloated first-team squad and several young talents forcing themselves into the mind of Ruben Amorim, there is not enough space for everyone.
Within the Manchester United squad, only four players are considered irreplaceable by Amorim, which gives a clear indication that several big names may be sold before 7 pm on the 1st of September in just over two months’ time.
However, it won’t only be big names with several young talents who need first-team football next season.
Dan Gore is one youngster expected to be sold after failing to escape the fringes of the first team over the past few seasons, and two failed loan moves.
Meanwhile, for Toby Collyer, last season saw him emerge as a bona fide first-team option under Amorim. Now the club’s plans for him this summer have been unveiled.

Manchester United’s plans for Toby Collyer this summer
Collyer had a breakout season for United during 2024-25, in which he impressed with a relentless work rate and strong defensive qualities.
This saw Collyer earn considerable praise from Bruno Fernandes, all while making 13 senior appearances for United. So after this impressive campaign, next season needs to see him playing even more – but if this won’t happen at Old Trafford, he may need a move.

Now, speaking with The United Stand, Ben Jacobs has revealed the stance United currently have around Collyer, with loan interest growing.
“On Collyer, there is some interest from the Championship in terms of a loan. I heard Middlesbrough the other day, in particular, were relatively keen.
“However, I think Manchester United and Amorim in particular will want to understand what they want to do with him first.
“So anybody interested in a loan might have to wait until a few weeks after pre-season starts because it sounds to me like Amorim wants a lot of these players in his squad, who are up and coming.
“He wants a bigger squad for pre-season to really look at everyone first hand, because for him, this is day one.”
Ineos could cash in on Toby Collyer this summer
There is no doubt that Collyer could be a top talent for United over the coming years. In particular, Collyer boasts freakish running stats which will no doubt impress Amorim.
However, despite this quality, United expect Sekou Kone to leapfrog Collyer, which could all but end the former Brighton midfielder’s chances of becoming a starter for United.
If Kone continues to emerge, it may see Collyer sold for what wouldn’t be more than £10m, but that could be a massive PSR boost for Ineos.
However, he still has this summer period to prove himself and show that he deserves a spot, or secure himself a top loan, which might benefit United next summer.
Several options for Collyer exist, but we will have to wait to see which is taken.
