Aaron Rodgers Makes Major Announcement on NFL Retirement

It has been a whirlwind offseason for four-time MVP and former Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers. On Tuesday, he made just his second appearance of the offseason on "The Pat McAfee Show," a program he regularly joined every Tuesday during the NFL season.

This marked his first interview on the ESPN platform as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and while Rodgers appears as motivated as ever to chase another Super Bowl alongside his new teammates, he also dropped some major—albeit somewhat expected—news.

The 20-year NFL veteran revealed that the 2025 season will likely be his final one, which is why he only agreed to a one-year deal to finish his career with one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises.

“Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is it,” Rodgers said. “That's why we did just a one-year deal. Steelers didn't need to put any extra years on that, so this is really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace and the career that I had."

He continued, "I mean, I played 20 years. It's been a long run and I've enjoyed it, and what better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL—with Mike Tomlin, with a great group of leadership and great guys in a city that expects you to win.”

Aaron Rodgers spent the majority of his illustrious NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before ending up with the New York Jets for the past two seasons—a stint that didn’t go as planned. On just the first series of his Jets debut in 2023, Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles, sidelining him for the entire season.
