Jadon Sancho will regret not taking Chelsea pay cut as winger closes in on very underwhelming move - opinion

Jadon Sancho had a very mixed loan spell at Chelsea, but the club still wanted to keep hold of the Manchester United winger.

Sancho found himself in and out of the starting XI; however, he did manage to score an excellent goal in the Conference League final. It really does show how the 25-year-old blew hot and cold

He has returned to United now and has been linked to several clubs. Given his most likely option right now, though, Sancho was better off staying at Chelsea.

Former Blue Joe Cole was keen for Sancho to stay, but the Englishman will not be part of Enzo Maresca‘s squad next season.

Jadon Sancho could be set to join Fenerbahce

Another man who has been in the Stamford Bridge dugout now looks like he could be about to get his hands on Sancho.

According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are closing in on signing Sancho in a deal that would be quite a coup for the Turkish side.

From the United attacker’s perspective, though, it cannot be seen as a great move. It is quite underwhelming if anything.

During his first spell at Borussia Dortmund, if you had said that Sancho would be at Fenerbahce by the age of 25, you would have sounded like a madman! Back then, the England international look destined for a Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester City.

It shows Sancho’s fall from grace and is quite disappointing, especially when he was showing signs of a revival at Chelsea. Jamie Gittens could now move from Germany to England just as Sancho did amid strong interest from Chelsea and will be hoping his switch to the Premier League goes much better.

Jadon Sancho and Chelsea couldn’t agree on salary

Again, despite his inconsistent form, Chelsea seemed happy to keep Sancho. But it had to be on their terms.

Chelsea wanted Sancho to take a pay cut but after the former Dortmund star refused to, that ended any chance of the Blues signing him from United permanently.

Next season, if Sancho is playing in the Turkish league, while Chelsea are thriving in the Premier League and Champions League, he is going to have some serious regrets.
