Andrew Wiggins' Future With the Miami Heat in Jeopardy as Trade Rumors Pick Up

The Miami Heat turned to the future of the franchise after trading away Jimmy Butler last season and getting swept in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With roster changes continuing to shape the Miami Heat, head coach Erik Spoelstra and general manager Andy Elisburg will now turn to the next generation of stars – specifically Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo – to keep the team competitive in the Eastern Conference.

After missing out on the trade sweepstakes for Kevin Durant, it seems that the Heat are still interested in making moves this offseason to possibly bolster their roster.

From recent reports, it looks like Miami has been shopping forward Andrew Wiggins in the days leading up to the 2025 NBA Draft.

"Teams are wondering what is next with the Miami Heat after striking out on a Durant trade. Miami continues to make Andrew Wiggins available in trade talks and would be willing to part with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft for an upgrade alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo," NBA insider Brett Siegel wrote in an article.

Andrew Wiggins was acquired by Miami last season in a trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. The deal also brought Kyle Anderson and the No. 20 pick the Heat have in this year's draft.

After playing in just 17 games for the Heat last season while dealing with multiple injuries, Wiggins averaged 19.0 PTS, 4.5 REB, 2.6 AST, and 1.0 STL per game.

Wiggins has two years remaining on the four-year, $109 million contract he signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2022, with a player option to opt out in 2026.

Although Wiggins carries a heavy contract, the Heat are also willing to part ways with the No. 20 pick in this year's draft as well.

With the 2025 NBA Draft approaching on Wednesday, the Miami Heat could be a team to trade out of the first round in an effort to add a new piece alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
