Wolves have the chance to bring in some new signings over the coming months

Wolves turned to Vitor Pereira during the last campaign. He was picked as their replacement for Gary O’Neil and has since made a positive impression. The former FC Porto boss managed to keep them up in the Premier League with relative comfort in the end.

Pereira now has the chance to bring in some signings this summer to bolster his squad. He is preparing for his first full season in charge at Molineux. The Midlands outfit have lost Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri already in this window to Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

Wolves should target Carney Chukwuemeka at Chelsea

Wolves could do with adding some more quality into their ranks over the next couple of months. They should have money to spend after Cunha and Ait-Nouri’s exits. Therefore, they need to splash the cash wisely to ensure that they bring in the right type of characters.

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka would be ideal for them. He has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him head out the exit door. The ex-England youth international spent the second-half of last term on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Chukwuemeka, 21, has been made available for transfer by Enzo Maresca, as per The Athletic, so the door has swung open for Wolves to swoop in. His valuation is said to be around the £40million mark. He is young, has potential to develop in the future and has already played a decent amount of games.

Why Carney Chukwuemeka would suit Wolves

Chukwuemeka would give Wolves more competition and depth in the middle of the park. He may feel he has a point to prove if Chelsea let him go on a full-time basis. In addition, the fact he has been playing at Borussia Dortmund over recent months means he will be fit and ready to go for pre-season.

The Austria-born man started his career at Northampton Town before joining Aston Villa as a youngster. He then rose up through the academy ranks of the latter and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. He went on to play 16 matches for the Villa Park club before his current team came calling.

Chukwuemeka has since featured on 32 occasions for Chelsea but saw his game time dry up under Maresca, hence why he was allowed to link up with Dortmund this past winter. At the time, their Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl said: “Carney is an extremely talented box-to-box player who has made a real impression in the Premier League at a young age – it’s no surprise that he has played for all the England youth teams from U17 onwards.

“His dynamism, his attacking mindset and his confidence, combined with his outstanding quality as a footballer, make him an exciting addition to our squad. His development had stalled recently in London, but despite not having played regularly we think he offers huge potential and we hope that Carney can rediscover what makes him such a good player here.”
