Everton ‘not in negotiations’ to sign Club World Cup star - journalist

David Moyes will be looking to improve Everton’s frontline drastically this transfer window.

Scoring was a real issue for the Toffees’ last campaign as Beto’s rejuvenation had to save Everton at times.

Although Kenny Tete’s future transfer will be helping out defensively, the Dutchman has been known to be involved in attack.

This will intrigue Moyes as he looks to strengthen elsewhere, with the door opening for a new striker as well, due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin potentially joining Leeds United.

A right-winger is also on the cards, and Everton have shown interest in Timothy Weah, but how accurate is Moyes’ pursuit of the American?

Truth about Everton’s interest in Timothy Weah

With a right-winger a clear priority for Everton, Weah certainly fits the bill for what Moyes needs.

The Juventus star has shone during his time over in Serie A, but the versatile 25-year-old could be on the lookout for a new challenge.

It had been said that Nottingham Forest opened talks with Weah, with Tottenham and Everton just standing by.

But journalist Rudy Galetti has given the lowdown on whether the interest by these Premier League outfits is actually the truth.

Galetti reports that despite the plethora of clubs interested, Weah is ‘not in negotiations’ with anyone.

George Weah’s son is under contract with Juventus until 2028, and it’s been made clear that the Juventus star is fully focused on the Club World Cup.

🚨❌ Despite many clubs interested – like Everton, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and other 🇪🇺 teams – Timothy Weah is NOT in negotiations with anyone.

The Weah family has special connection to Juventus which might push away Everton

As mentioned, Timothy is the son of legendary forward George, and Moyes would no doubt love to take the winger on board.

Not only is he more attacking, but Weah has been known to play at right-back, as versatility is important to the Scotsman.

But it’s his quality that stands out more.

However, judging by the vast interest and no official talks starting, this transfer happening looks unlikely, but the more concerning factor for Everton is the Weah family’s connection with Juventus.

Speaking to the Print Edition of La Repubblica (23/11/2024), George Weah spoke on the connection to Juventus and how it’s great for his son, Timothy.

“I was a die-hard Juventus fan,” Weah said.

“I’ll cheer for Juventus because it’s my team, and because my son plays for them.”

This could ultimately mean it will be difficult to prise Timothy away from Juve due to the loyalty the family have, and with a contract until 2028, Moyes might have to move on.

Tete’s arrival looks set in stone, but Everton must start putting together concrete talks for attacking talent.
