2025 Position Breakdown: Geno Smith adds new dimension to quarterback room

Aidan O'Connell enters his third NFL season with 17 career starts under his belt.

In his rookie season, he became the full-time starter in Week 9 in place of Jimmy Garoppolo. He finished the season with a 5-5 record. In 2024, he went back and forth with Gardner Minshew for the starting job, with injuries dampening O'Connell's sophomore campaign.

"It was fun to follow Aidan O'Connell at Purdue and the success that he had there," quarterbacks coach Greg Olson said. "Then to see him come in and play as a young player, which is not easy to do. While being the eighth quarterback selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, his 3,830 passing yards and 20 touchdowns rank fourth among all quarterbacks in his draft class.

Carter Bradley, a 2024 UDFA from South Alabama, spent the majority of his rookie season with the Raiders on the practice squad. He ultimately signed to the active roster heading into Week 15 but did not see action in any games. His father, Gus Bradley, was a defensive coordinator under Pete Carroll for three seasons.
