Man Utd submit bid to sign star who could ‘play for any team in the world’, talks accelerating…

Manchester United are reportedly planning to bring Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo to the club in the coming weeks, and could look to force a deal through before pre-season, according to Ben Jacobs - after news emerged that the Old Trafford club had bid over £60million for the wide forward to join their ranks.

The Red Devils only scored 44 goals in the league last season, with only Everton and the bottom three managing to score fewer. With Mbeumo and new man Matheus Cunha scoring a combined 35, that's almost the club's entire total, so goals should be a lot easier to come by next season for Portuguese tactician Ruben Amorim - and he'll look to bring the Cameroon international to the club as a matter of urgency in the coming days.

The original report by Jacobs on X (formerly Twitter) states that United have improved their offer for Mbeumo to over £60million, with talks accelerating in the 'past few days', which they will continue in the coming days.

And, just three hours later, he further posted that United's plan is to try to get a deal done before pre-season begins on July 7, with Mbeumo remaining firm in his preference to join United.

The Red Devils have already got a deal over the line for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Cunha in a £62.5million capture, and if Mbeumo joins, it will have improved their attack greatly - though a striker may still be needed with the duo likely to both line up in the two attacking midfield slots that Amorim prefers to use, with Bruno Fernandes lining up in the centre of midfield.

Mbeumo's 20-goal season in the Premier League has been incredible, with only Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah scoring more than him in the top-flight, and United will want to wrap up a deal before long as other suitors could still join the running for his signature - with the Cameroonian being touted as being good enough to play for 'any team in the world'.

The 25-year-old has had four seasons in the Premier League, with this being by far his best, and he's now hitting his peak in the league, which is a good omen for United, as it was with Cunha.
