Mohammed Kudus is at the centre of fresh transfer speculation linking him with a move from West Ham United.

The Ghana international is a massive fan favourite at the London Stadium, even if he too often performed below his usual high levels last season.

Kudus has been linked with Tottenham and Liverpool among others, with the speculation only ramping up after he recently joined a new agency.

However, it may well be that Kudus ends up at another Premier League side in Newcastle United amid a new update.

Newcastle United turn to West Ham’s Kudus

Kudus could land West Ham somewhere in the region of £80million if sold this summer.

West Ham‘s resolve may soon be tested as, according to Sky Sports (23 June), Newcastle have turned their focus to Kudus and two others.

That is after Nottingham Forest rejected their £45million bid for Anthony Elanga.

Sharing an update live on Sky Sports News, reporter Michael Bridge added: “Newcastle are exploring the options of wingers.

“Our understanding is that they are Johan Bakayoko at PSV, Karim Adeyemi of Dortmund and, drumroll, Mohammed Kudus at West Ham United. I can’t imagine he’d very cheap.”

Kudus exit could benefit West Ham in long run

Transfer speculation surrounding Kudus is nothing new. While many supporters will be furious if the club cash in, it may not be the worst decision in the world.

That all depends on the sum of money offered. If United can double the £38m outlay they spent on Kudus, as has been suggested, that money could be spent on two high-quality new players.

Losing Jarrod Bowen is an absolute no-no as far as the Irons are concerned, regardless of the fee.

Kudus’ West Ham record

But Kudus is replaceable and it could benefit West Ham in the long term. The key to that, though, is getting the right fee and ensuring any sale is done early on in the window.

There are plenty of options out there, with Mario Stroeykens said to be high on West Ham’s transfer radar.

If Newcastle are indeed serious about signing Kudus, then it is a case of the club’s wealthy owners putting their money with their mouth is.

And by rejecting Newcastle’s bid, Forest have very much set the wheels in motion for a possible high-profile exit at the London Stadium this summer.
