Leeds United could be set to turn their back on their transfer pursuit of Hugo Bueno after the latest update from Wolves.
Junior Firpo seems destined to depart West Yorkshire when his contract expires this summer, and as a result, a left-back is likely to be extremely high on the list of transfer priorities for the 49ers and Daniel Farke.
Farke and Co. will know that several high-quality additions will be needed if they are to survive in the Premier League, which places great importance on every single piece of their business ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Hugo Bueno is one man who has been identified as a potential Firpo replacement, with the Wolves defender having spent last season out on loan at Feyenoord.

Wolves don’t want to sell Bueno this summer
Bueno has featured highly on Leeds’ transfer wishlist in recent weeks, but their hopes of signing the Spanish youth international now look to have been severely dented, for now at least.

The 22-year-old has spent the campaign away from Molineux, but Wolves’ sale of Rayan Ait Nouri appears to have changed their stance on Bueno.
Vitor Pereira is now understood to be keen to take a look at the academy graduate, according to Feyenoord outlet 1908 (24 June).
The left-back is under contract in the Black Country until the summer of 2028, and his parent club want to assess him in pre-season after a successful loan stint.
Bueno is currently the only natural senior left-back on Wolves’ books, which will surely deal a major blow to Leeds’ hopes of convincing him to make the switch to Elland Road.

Leeds ‘to turn their back on Bueno’
Replacing Firpo is certainly a pertinent issue for Leeds, and it is something that needs addressing as quickly as possible.
The last thing Farke will want is to still be piecing together his squad in the closing stages of the window. The German boss would surely much rather have all the elements of his squad together with plenty of time to spare, so that he can begin to instil his ideas well before the opening day of the season.

With that in mind, Wolves’ current stance on Bueno should be enough to convince the Whites to turn their back on the possibility of trying to conclude a deal for the defender.
Their Premier League rivals have essentially delayed their decision regarding Bueno, which would in turn prevent Leeds getting any sort of answer on his availability until the latter stages of the window.
Farke and the 49ers won’t want to be waiting on decisions from other clubs to conduct their business, and that will surely mean they turn their attention elsewhere to add the left-back that they need.
