Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has announced that the 2025 season will be his last in the NFL.
Rodgers revealed the news Tuesday afternoon during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Yea, I’m pretty sure this is it,” Aaron Rodgers said. “That’s why we just did a one-year deal. The Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything.”
Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers during the first week of June. The contract includes a base salary of $13.65 million, with $10 million guaranteed.
The veteran told The Pat McAfee Show that he is looking forward to finishing his career in Pittsburgh with a franchise that he has always had a lot of respect for.
“So, you know, this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had,” Aaron Rodgers said. “I mean I’ve played 20 freakin’ years, you know. Like it’s been a long run and I’ve enjoyed it.
“And what better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys in a city that expects you to win.”
Rodgers is widely considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He has been named the NFL MVP four times, in addition to winning a Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP.
A former first-round pick out of Cal, Rodgers spent the first 18 years of his career with the Packers, before playing with the Jets in 2023 and 2024. He missed almost all of the 2023 season with an injury, before throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year.
After much discussion and speculation, Rodgers finally signed with the Steelers a few weeks back. Now he is set to end his career in Pittsburgh and is hoping to go out on a high note.
