Report: Man Utd now open talks to sign £300,000-a-week 'world-beater' alongside Mbeumo

Manchester United have opened talks over a move to sign Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku, according to L'Equipe.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season after failing to qualify for any European competition, following a terrible Premier League season where they finished 15th.

The future of forwards Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund are all up in the air, and while the club have already brought in Matheus Cunha and moved for Bryan Mbeumo, they're not done trying to bring players in.

After a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, Nkunku is keen to leave Chelsea this summer in search of more regular first-team football and Manchester United have now opened talks with his entourage about a potential move.

Nkunku, who earns around £300,000-a-week and has been labelled as a 'world-beater', is capable of playing as a central striker, out wide or as a number ten, and that versatility could fit in well at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.

As a result United have contact the agents of the player to discuss a move and see if he would be open to it, plus what the conditions of any deal would be, but so far they have not made any offers to the player or Chelsea.

Man Utd are still keen to sign two more attackers this summer after Cunha, and Brentford star Mbeumo is expected to be one of those arrivals, but the door would still then be open to Nkunku's arrival if the club opt to progress with a move.

It's also stated in the report that Nkunku has interest from other clubs, although nobody is directly named, which means the Reds may be forced to move quickly to get a deal over the line to avoid being beaten to the punch by a team capable of offering more favourable conditions.
