Newcastle United have made a bid for a player - that must mean they're getting ready to sell one of their most important players, because why would they be trying to strengthen their squad?
That seems to be the massive leap that has been taken by the Liverpool Echo this evening as they've just published a story suggesting that Newcastle's £45 million bid for Anthony Elanga is opening the door for a Toon exit.
Before you say it, I realise this is exactly what we did earlier when we found out about Nottingham Forest's double deal with Juventus, but our reach was based on some form of logic and ultimately proved to be true.
While Forest and Juventus negotiate the deal for two of their wingers to head to the City Ground, Newcastle made a move for Anthony Elanga, essentially testing the water.

Liverpool want Anthony Gordon
Newcastle bidding for a right winger must mean we're ready to sell a left winger!
Part of the reason we made that leap of logic was that not only were Forest negotiating to bring in two wingers, but both of them can play in the position currently filled by Anthony Elanga. It made sense.
The Liverpool Echo, however, have put together two and two and come up with curtains. They believe that Newcastle United's pursuit of right-winger Anthony Elanga means they're preparing to sell our left-winger Anthony Gordon to the Reds.
Anyone else see the issue here? Once again, it's that super club entitlement. The transfer window revolves around them, and Newcastle would only be making moves to facilitate a transfer for the champions.

Anthony Elanga's arrival at Newcastle will in no way impact Anthony Gordon's future at the club
We'll give them points for not trying to make this out to be an opening for Alexander Isak, although we're sure they were desperately trying to connect the red wool on their transfer board to make it work.
Their report says that Anthony Elanga's arrival at Newcastle could impact Anthony Gordon's future at Newcastle. They play on opposite flanks, the only way it will impact Gordon is that it might kick him up the arse to be better so he sees more of the ball than Elanga.
You have to laugh. I mean ... there's a very high chance we will make such a leap at some point this summer.
