Manchester United have reportedly held talks with the representatives of Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari, while AC Milan have taken the more direct approach with a €30million (£25.6million) bid tabled.

Premier League rivals Fulham and West Ham are, also, said to have placed the 22-year-old among their own top targets, with either of their advances so far rejected. Manchester City were flagged up in the same conversation, before electing to pay £46.3million for Milan's Tijjani Reijnders.

A Swiss prodigy who spent his formative years playing in his homeland, before earning a big move to Belgium's Jupiler Pro League in 2024, this battle begs the question, who is Jashari?

Here, we take a closer look in profile;

Career to date

Jashari was first recruited to FC Luzern's academy as an 11-year-old. He progressed through the age groups, before making his bow for FC Luzern II as a 17-year-old.

One year later and his full Luzern debut followed, then he went on to make 102 appearances for the club with nine goals and 11 assists recorded from the middle of park.

In 2024, Club Brugge came calling and his boyhood side were able to secure a €6million (£5.1million) payment, and that stands as their record sale.

Jashari had a strong first year in Belgium, as his team won their domestic cup and finished runners-up in the Jupiler Pro League - a competition in which he was named 24/25 player of the year. Brugge also battled to the Champions League last-16 stage before crashing out.

Making his national team debut at 20, the midfielder has gone on to appear four times for Switzerland.

Jashari bid latest

HLN reported AC Milan to have been lining up a £25.6million offer, as of Tuesday morning, though United's interest remains strong and they were hopeful that this will not impact their own plan.

Since, The Mirror have claimed that Milan bid to have been submitted while Old Trafford chiefs have made contact with Jashari's representatives. The Manchester Evening News previously reported that part of Ruben Amorim's plan this summer is to recruit a new midfielder knowing Christian Eriksen is to depart as a free agent.

And it would seem United can hold out hope for a little longer with it claimed Club Brugge are seeking nothing less than €40million (£34.1milllion), so their Italian rivals would be below the asking price by those standards.

Jashari is said to be holding out for a club which can offer Champions League football, however, which neither club can. So far, he's already said to have rejected Fulham and West Ham on these grounds.

European giants circle

Not only are United and Milan in the frame, so too have been a collection of Europe's top clubs in the past.

Arsenal are claimed to have kept tabs when the 22-year-old was still a Luzern player, though their former sporting director Edu was never able to make a move materialise.

Borussia Dortmund were linked, too, before managing to wrap up the high-profile signing of Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, then lastly Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made checks on the talented individual, but have done nothing more, as yet.
