Huge transfer twist emerges amidst Leeds United exit links – comes after reports of agreement…

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made a huge call that some would say secured the Championship trophy. The German has been criticized over some of his flaws, but he often sticks with his decisions.

In a bad run of games, where Leeds failed to secure consecutive wins, an unfortunate afternoon from Illan Meslier lead to a huge change in the team. After the Frenchman committed errors to gift a point to the Swans, Daniel Farke made the decision to bench him. Karl Darlow surprisingly started every game till the end of the season, with Leeds winning the league title.

When asked why he benched Meslier, he made it clear:

“[But] it’s professional football and you have to deliver and perform well to handle the pressure. The last time, he responded really well with many good performances and several clean sheets.

“But also in last weeks we felt he could have done a bit better and obviously in the last game he was strongly involved in both goals. So for that, I have to make a decision and protect him a little bit.

Earlier this week, there were reports that Fenerbahce had agreed a deal in principle for Meslier, and that he would fly to complete the deal in Turkey over the weekend.

Sources around the club have now come out to clear the air over the situation. According to Graham Smyth, Leeds have not received any offers for the French keeper so far. LeedsLive reporter Isaac Johnson also confirms this news, saying that Meslier has not received any offers, and no deal has been agreed with the club.

So, it looks like the 25-year old will be at the club when pre-season begins in the next week.

Leeds need to find a new number one

Going into the Premier League with Meslier as number one would be a big mistake. His last campaign in the top flight saw him benched in the final weeks of the season as Sam Allardyce fought to avoid relegation.

For some reason, Meslier’s shot stopping has declined, after a wonderful start to his career in England. And if he continues to make mistakes at this stage, then there is nothing the club can do, but replace him this summer.
