Former NFL All-Pro, accused of attempted murder, says he fled the U.S.

Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown, 36, was recently slapped with an arrest warrant for attempted murder, and according to his post on “X,” has left the country.

“I’m out the country,” Brown wrote on Saturday. “Ain’t no more child support, tell your mama get a job.”

Brown’s second-degree attempted murder charge stems from a shooting that took place during an altercation outside an amateur boxing event in Miami, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Associated Press.

Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man he had gotten into a fistfight with earlier. The victim told investigators one of the bullets grazed his neck. The charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence and up to a $10,000 fine.

The former wide receiver last played in the NFL in 2021 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he spent most of his 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had stints with the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots.

Brown has been involved in numerous troubling off-the-field incidents during and after his playing days, including multiple arrests and legal battles and disputes with former teammates, partners and trainers. He was arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support and also faced civil contempt charges related to unpaid debts.

Brown also has previously been accused of battery of a moving truck driver and several domestic violence charges.

Brown earned his first All-Pro selection in 2014 and was named to the All-Pro team for four consecutive years, from 2014 to 2017.

However, his turbulent NFL career included being released by three of the five teams he played for (the Raiders, Patriots, and Bucs) due to off-the-field incidents.
