Jordan Poole's Trade to Pelicans Catches Attention From Warriors Fans

The New Orleans Pelicans and Washington Wizards missed the playoffs this year. The teams combined for only 39 wins.

The Pelicans went 21-61, while the Wizards went 18-64 in 2024-25.

Washington and New Orleans are two teams in rebuild mode, but that didn't stop the front offices from making a trade.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Pelicans are trading CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Wizards for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick in this year's draft.

Washington is now expected to approach $100 million in projected cap space in 2026, per Charania.

The headliners of this trade are McCollum and Poole, two scoring guards.

McCollum averaged 21.1 points for the Pelicans this season in 56 games, while Poole averaged 20.5 points for the Wizards in 68 games.

Poole began his career with the Golden State Warriors and won the 2022 championship with Steph Curry, so Warriors fans still keep up with him.

"This trade seems pointless," one fan wrote.

"Poole is on another poverty team," a second fan wrote.

"Poole going to another garbage team come home to the warriors bro," a third fan wrote.

Draymond Green punched Poole in the face before the 2022-23 season started.

The Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2023 playoffs in six games and Poole was traded to the Wizards in the summer of 2023.

"Free Jordan Poole. He deserves to be on a championship team," one fan wrote.

"POOLE IS FREE FROM THE WIZARDS," another fan wrote.

Poole has career averages of 16.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 412 NBA games with the Warriors and Pelicans.

He now teams up with Zion Williamson in New Orleans.
