Miami Heat ready to trade All-Star talent after missing out on Kevin Durant trade

The Miami Heat were one of a handful of teams pursuing a trade for future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant. Yet, despite reportedly being one of just three teams that were on Durant’s preferred list of landing spots, the Phoenix Suns traded the 15-time All-Star to the Houston Rockets instead. So, what’s next for the Heat?

Miami still wants to find a way to upgrade its roster around Bam Adebayo this offseason, and it’s reportedly willing to shop another All-Star to do so.

Specifically, according to [Brett Siegel of Clutch Points](https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/2025-nba-draft-big-board-5-0-76ers-final-ace-bailey-vj-edgecombe-decision), the Heat have placed one-time All-Star Andrew Wiggins on the trade block.

> “Teams are wondering what is next with the Miami Heat after striking out on a Durant trade. Miami continues to make Andrew Wiggins available in trade talks and would be willing to part with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft for an upgrade alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, sources said.”

Wiggins recently arrived in Miami as part of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. Yet, this rumor indicates he’s not a key part of coach Erik Spoelstra’s core.

However, if the Heat are trying to target a new potential star to add to their core, then gauging the value of Wiggins on the open market makes a lot of sense. While he’s bounced around to three different teams since becoming the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Wiggins has carved out a solid career that includes a championship ring.

Yet, the Heat apparently don’t consider him to be a crucial part of their current build and now someone else may benefit from Wiggins’ skills.
