Talking about Liverpool’s crazy connection to music, Dua then welcomed out onto the stage a “Liverpool legend”.

Then, emerging from the stage and walking down the catwalk was the Dave McCabe, frontman of English rock band The Zutons.

The English indie rock band formed in Liverpool, in 2002 and currently consists of Dave McCabe, Abi Harding, Jay Lewis, Neil Bradley and Tim Cunningham.

Dave joined Dua in a rendition of their hit song Valerie, with the crowd joining in for the chorus in particular.

The song comes from their second studio album Tired of Hanging Around from 2006.

The song was later covered by Mark Ronson, with lead vocals provided by Amy Winehouse, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2007.

The band's debut album, Who Killed...... The Zutons?, was released in April 2004 and featured tracks ‘Confusion’, ‘Pressure Point’, ‘Zuton Fever’ and ‘You Will Won’t You’.

Dua Lipa’s current tour is in support of her third studio album ‘Radical Optimism’, which was released last year and features hits including ‘Houdini’, ‘Training Season’, and ‘Illusion’.

The tour followed hot on the heels of her triumphant headline performance at Glastonbury last summer and includes only four dates - London, Liverpool, and Dublin - ahead of shows in Canada and America.

Ahead of her performance at Anfield tonight, the songstress was also joined by her two support acts - Dove Cameron, a singer who rose to fame for her role as twin characters Liv and Maddie in the eponymous Disney Channel comedy series, as well as her major role in the network's Descendants film franchise.

Indie-pop star Alessi Rose was also tasked with warming up the crowd at Anfield, having previously been opening act for Noah Kahan’s 2024 tour.
