West Ham & Everton in Four Way Fight For U21 Star

West Ham are reportedly one of four Premier League clubs chasing Ipswich Town’s talented wideman Omari Hutchinson, according to the Daily Mail this afternoon.

The exciting 21-year-old attacker is currently preparing for England Under-21s in their European Championship semi-final against the Netherlands – but it’s his form for the Tractor Boys last season that impressed. Hutchinson played a key role in Ipswich’s fight to stay in the top flight, and now finds himself on Graham Potter’s Hammers wish-list as well as Fulham, Brentford and Everton.

Valued at around £30 million, Hutchinson’s price tag is going to be a problem, particularly for Potter-still hamstrung by the need to shift players before bringing new ones in. It’s the same figure Chelsea recently paid for fellow Tractor Boys teammate Liam Delap – so Ipswich clearly feel the valuation is justified.

Everton are rumoured to be in the strongest financial position to pull the trigger, while West Ham – yet again – wait in the wings with empty pockets. Despite Graham Potter’s desire to add pace and invention into the team, a move for Hutchinson looks unlikely unless sales materialise fast.

Once again, West Ham risk watching another exciting young talent slip through our fingers because the purse strings remain frustratingly tight at the London Stadium.
