Fabrizio Romano revealed that Mason Mount will stay at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, like Bruno Fernandes, amid transfer rumours. United have made numerous players available for sale this summer after enduring an embarrassing season, which involved a managerial transition.
Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag as the new manager of the club after his disastrous spell, riddled with poor signings. Ten Hag spent a lot of money at United, with most of his signings failing to justify their enormous valuations.
Amorim is using this transfer to build a team according to his tactics, which is vastly different to Ten Hag’s. The senior team that Amorim inherited has failed to adapt to his tactical demands, resulting in a planned squad overhaul.

While most of the senior players are available for departure, as Amorim focuses on quality over quantity, few are safe. Fernandes has already highlighted that United are not willing to sell him at any price after they rejected Al Hilal.
However, there are other players whose future remains uncertain at United, including United fans’ favourite Kobbie Mainoo. Meanwhile, Mount has enjoyed a few injury-free months at United since returning to action in March.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano squashed rumours about Mount exiting United, highlighting him as important for Amorim, like Fernandes. He said:
“Today, we heard stories about Mason Mount leaving Manchester United. Mason Mount maybe involved in some swap deals this summer. What I can tell you today, end of June, the clear intention of Mason Mount is to stay at Manchester United. Mason Mount is planning to have an important pre-season, feeling well, being fully fit, and working under Ruben Amorim, who always said important words for Mount during his first season as a Manchester United coach. Always showing his full confidence in the player. Now it’s obviously about being fit, being ready but the intention of Mason Mount is to stay at Manchester United”
United signed Mount from Chelsea for an initial fee of £55m on a five-year lucrative deal for the Englishman. However, Mount has struggled with performance and injuries throughout his tenure at United, spanning across two seasons now.
The 26-year-old has missed 50 games for the Red Devils in just two seasons, highlighting his unreliability as a regular. The England international needs to use next season as an opportunity to repay the faith that Amorim is showing.

If Mount struggles for another season, his valuation will drop further as he remains under a massive contract. However, the 26-year-old has all the qualities to thrive under the tactical philosophy of Amorim if he can remain fit.
