2025 Guard Brandon Roy Jr. Commits to Washington

Washington added to their roster this week with the news that Brandon Roy Jr. has committed to the program. Roy Jr. is the son of former NBA player Brandon Roy, who also played at Washington and had his jersey retired in 2009.

Roy Jr. is set to join a recruiting class that includes a pair of four-star guards in J.J. Mandaquit and Courtland Muldrew, as well as four-star forward Jasir Rencher and three-star big Mady Traore. Roy Jr. is set to join his father’s alma mater in a recruiting class ranked 20th by 247Sports, with the Huskies also posting a top 20 transfer portal haul.

Interestingly enough, Roy Jr. will wear the formerly retired number that his dad wore while with the Huskies.

“In 2009 I watched my father’s jersey be retired at UW, not knowing one day I’d get to wear it,” Roy posted online. “Thank you coach Sprinkle, staff and the University of Washington for giving me a chance.”

The 6’2” guard is set to take the 15th and final spot on the upcoming Huskies roster as Washington looks to build on last year’s disappointing 13-18 finish.
