Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell literally cannot catch a break. Injuries have cost him a ton of time throughout his big league career, and now after injuring his operative shoulder on a minor league rehab assignment, he is looking at undergoing a second surgery for his shoulder.

An oblique injury placed Mitchell on the injured list earlier this year. While he was rehabbing back, he injured his shoulder that underwent labral repair in 2023. After getting imaging done, it was revealed that he dislodged some of the anchors from his previous surgery and another operation will be needed.

Mitchell’s initial recommendation was to undergo surgery, which would entail of an 8-10 week recovery. Per Adam McCalvy at MLB.com, he is seeking a second opinion.
Brewers team physician William Raasch recommended surgery for Mitchell. He is seeking a second opinion in Los Angeles from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who had performed his initial surgery two years ago.
