Several teams have been busy conducting trades over the past few days, including the Boston Celtics. We’ve already seen the Celtics trade one All-Star, sending Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, now it sounds like another Celtics All-Star is generating a ton of interest.
Specifically, according to ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania, teams are showing a “significant” amount of interest in trading for Jaylen Brown this offseason.
“The Celtics prefer to not trade Jaylen Brown but listen the offers that they are getting right now and the conversations are gonna be had, does it reach the value?”
Shams Charania on Jaylen Brown
Of course, there’s been no indication that the Celtics are willing to trade the 2023-24 NBA Finals MVP. Now that the Celtics have traded former All-Stars Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics aren’t expected to keep shedding All-Stars.
However, in the modern NBA, there’s always a chance that the Celtics receive an offer that’s just too good to refuse. Though, the Celtics may feel like they’ve already cleared enough off their future cap sheet to even consider serious offers for their four-time All-Star.
We’ll see if that remains true as the offseason rages on, but it never hurts to place an inquisitory phone call to see what the price is, especially for a talent like Brown. After all, if Luka Doncic can get traded, anything is possible.
