According to Shams Charania of ESPN, nine-time NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving is declining his $43 million player option and intends to sign a three-year, $119 million contract with the franchise.

The deal will include a player option for the 2027–28 season, with Irving set to turn 35 in the final year of the contract.

Irving, 33, is currently rehabbing after tearing his ACL in March.

Before the injury this season in 50 games he played, Irving averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 47.3% from the field, and 40.1% from three.

The Mavs ended last season with a 39–43 record, falling short in the Play-In Tournament without their starting point guard. Now, the team is expected to build around a new trio: Irving, Anthony Davis, and projected top pick Flagg.
