Manchester United are poised to sell a number of players this summer
The Red Devils have missed out on European football next season and only have a budget of around £100m which will be exceeded if a deal for Mbeumo is agreed. The Red Devils have already made a second offer in excess of £60m while Matheus Cunha is the club’s first signing of the window, joining for £62.5m from Wolves.
The two attacking midfielders will add a much-needed goal threat to Amorim’s side next campaign but there are several areas of the squad that need strengthened. However, Amorim will only have a budget based on the players who will depart from Old Trafford and one star is now being strongly linked with an exit.
Casemiro very close to Man Utd exit
Reports from Sport Jazirah - the sport arm of Al Jazeera - have claimed that Casemiro is close to making a move to the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr. Talks over an exit are said to be at an advanced stage.
They wrote on X: “The Al Nassr club is close to signing the Brazilian player Casemiro, the Manchester United midfielder, during the upcoming summer transfer period, and sources indicate that negotiations are at an advanced stage.”
Casemiro joined United in a deal worth up to £70m from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 and has just one year remaining on his deal at Old Trafford. He is deemed as one of United’s sellable assets heading into the summer window. The midfielder has struggled with inconsistency over the last 18 months but ended the season in somewhat positive form after initially appearing to be frozen out by Amorim.
Casemiro exit makes perfect sense for United
The Brazilian is one of the highest earners at the club and getting his wages off the books will give the Red Devils a major financial boost. The wealth of the Saudi Pro League could also see the club earn a decent fee for the ex-Real Madrid star.
His performances in the latter months of the season will have slightly bolstered his value to give United the best chance of moving him on. Speaking why Casemiro was able to force his way back into the team, Amorim said back in April: "The important thing with Casemiro is that he won everything with Real Madrid.
"He wasn’t playing because I understood that in that moment he wasn’t the best option for how we want to play and he continued to work.
"I look at my players in the same way. If you improve what we ask of them, they have the opportunity. If they play well, they continue to play.
"That was the situation for Casemiro. The credit is all the player. He is our player and will continue to be our player.”
