For Arsenal, both the Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško sagas have been at a standstill in recent days.
Reports are continuing with a variety of claims, but from the perspective of what the Gunners are actually doing, it appears to be more of a stance of sitting back and waiting rather than charging forward with a definitive move for either of the forwards.
Portuguese newspaper [Record](http://record.pt) has been by far the best on Gyökeres to Arsenal, and in their Wednesday edition it’s explained there’s now two sets of sources saying different things on the situation. One source is in the player’s camp and the other is likely at Sporting.
The first of those sources has been pushing the message that Gyökeres has told Sporting he won’t be returning to preseason training, which starts in less than a week, unless the club agree to sell him for €60m plus €10m in bonuses. Again, it’s worth noting nobody has offered that amount even verbally yet.
The other source paints a calmer picture, insisting that ultimatum hasn’t been made.
Over the past 24 hours or so, one of the big slants in the Portuguese media has been the player speaking cordially and friendly with the Sporting president’s wife at Martin Hjulmand’s weekend wedding. Katarina Larsson was pictured chatting with Gyökeres and there certainly didn’t look to be animosity between the pair.
Record believe too much has been made of this, and sources from the Gyökeres camp insist that the player was simply being polite, with those sources clearly keen to keep up the image of a massive fall out with the president, Frederico Varandas.
Of course the pictures don’t help that stance much.
