Manchester United player in front page transfer splash–‘Very hot’chats to seal move

At the beginning of this week, the Jadon Sancho story has mainly revolved around Fenerbahce.

The Turkish media have been bringing their longstanding claims up to date, explaining the Manchester United player would be paid €10-12m – likely after tax – if he joins the Super Lig club, and the transfer fee would be around €18m.

Those claims from Turkey were then picked up by the English media, with some even repackaging them as exclusives, and also made their way to Italy.

Italian interest is because Napoli and Juventus have been linked in recent days, and Sancho is subsequently on the front cover of Wednesday’s [Corriere dello Sport](http://corrieredellosport.it). The Manchester United player shares that front cover with Jonathan David, and the Juventus outline aim would be to sign both.

Juventus’ new sporting director Damien Comolli is described as _‘vigorously pursuing’_ a move for Sancho. The club had interest last summer but missed out to Chelsea, and this time they want to _‘hit the target’._

The Turin club _‘need to find the formula’_ with Manchester United, report Corriere dello Sport. Essentially, the Red Devils want a permanent exit and Juventus want a loan with an option to buy, or obligation based on certain circumstances.

Of course, Sancho’s contract expires in a year so anything other than a purchase or a loan with a 100% obligation prior to expiry is useless. Juventus are also hesitant about the player’s huge wages, and are in _‘very hot’_ contacts with his entourage.

Corriere dello Sport don’t report this, but as we’ve been explaining it’s tax advantages which could play a big role here. Italian football has long benefitted from the Growth Decree, which allowed heavily discounted tax rates for incomers. That ended for newcomers in 2023, even if arrivals prior to that date still benefit.

In Turkey, there’s still a tax discount.
