Arsenal are closing in on their first major summer signing, but it may not be the headline name the Gunners faithful have been hoping for, as Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to complete his move to North London this week. The ongoing soap opera of their striker search is set to wear on, though new reports hint Benjamin Sesko could be set to extend his stay at RB Leipzig following the arrival of new head coach Ole Werner. Viktor Gyokeres is still pushing to make the move to North London, but has also fielded interest from Man United.
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Jamie Gittens, with talks ongoing in the United States, while Joao Pedro, Mohammed Kudus and Malick Fofana are on the shortlist too. The Blues are weighing up whether to go back in for Mike Maignan and have interest in Ousmane Diomande and Murillo as they bid to boost their defence. United, meanwhile, are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo having submitted an improved bid of more than £60m, while their former midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly agreed a return to football with AS Monaco.
Liverpool have finally announced Florian Wirtz and will soon do the same with Milos Kerkez before plotting a move for Marc Guehi and, maybe, Alexander Isak. Tottenham could aso shake up the market with a shock swoop for Eberechi Eze as they look to kick of Thomas Frank’s managerial tenure with a statement aquisition. The Blaugrana are said to be interested in taking the striker on loan. He could present a budget alternative to Nico Williams.
Rashford is not in Ruben Amorim’s United plans, but the club would reportedly prefer a permanent move to another loan, and may not sanction the move.

The 40-year-old, formerly of Rangers and Birmingham City, will be tasked with returning the Eagles to the WSL after they were relegated last season.
As a player, Potter won 35 England caps while representing Arsenal, Charlton Athletic, Everton, and Reading. She retired from playing in 2021.
She said: “I know there’s huge ambition running throughout the club. I had a really good conversation with Steve Parish and could see how important the women’s team are to him and his aspirations for this club.
“My message to the fans is that we are going to fight – we are going to fight with you and for you. We want to see you bring the noise and support the team.”

Sean Dyche is said to be in pole position to take over from Ruud Van Nistelrooy at Leicester as the Dutchman is set to be relieved of his duties this summer.
Dyche most recently worked for Everton, but has replaced by David Moyes last season. Van Nistelrooy is due to be replaced by the Foxes after he was brought in to prevent the club’s relegation, in which he was unsuccessful.
Newcastle are looking to tie down Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park amid reports Liverpool could look to break the British transfer record for a second time this summer to bring him to Anfield.
According to reports, they have opened contract talks with the prolific Swede, and are prepared to make him the highest-paid player at the club.
The offer sits at £150,000-per-week in salary, according to The Times. That would make him one of Newcastle’s highest earners, though the club are concerned that Liverpool could still make a sweeter deal.
Isak is thought to be open to joining the Premier League champions, though a move would necessitate a bid of at least £150m.
Manchester United are hoping to recoup £25m as they look to offload the winger, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea but could not reach an agreement to make the move permanent.
Paul Pogba is set to agree his return to professional football in Ligue 1 after serving an 18-month doping suspension.
Fabrizio Romano reports that he has reached an agreement to join AS Monaco, and will sign a two-year deal.
The finer details will be smoothed out shortly, with the move expected to be tied up in the coming days and a medical booked for this week.
Pogba last played a competitive match in 2023 for Juventus before being convicted of a doping charge, which he vehemently denies.
Manchester United submitted a fresh bid for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo yesterday as they continue to overhaul Ruben Amorim’s ailing forward line.
Standard Sport understands the deal is worth around £60m. United initially submitted a bid earlier this month totalling £45m plus £10m in add-ons. However, that was rejected by Brentford, who are in a strong bargaining position, with the club holding an option to extend Mbeumo's contract, which expires in June 2026, by an additional year.
United have now come back with a second offer, which is closer to Brentford's valuation. The Bees want a fee close to the £62.5m that United paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha.
Brentford are hoping to negotiate easier add-ons from United, whose latest bid is worth £55m up front with a further £5m in add-ons, before sanctioning a deal for Mbeumo.
Standard Sport revealed yesterday that the club are looking to make a statement signing to herald the start of Thomas Frank’s managerial tenure.
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly informed Sporting CP’s hierarchy that he has no intention to play for the club again.
Gyokeres has emerged as a top target again as talks for Benjamin Sesko hit a bump in the road, and Portuguese outlet Record report that he has called Sporting president Frederico Varandas to demand he is sold.
It is claimed that Gyokeres told Varandas has has given his all and should be allowed to leave for Arsenal, and urged the club to accept a fee of €60m plus €10m in add-ons.
Gyokeres is said to be desperate to join Arsenal and warned Varandas that he will never forgive Sporting if they delay and force the Gunners to look elsewhere for a new striker.
BBC Sport report that the Gunners will trigger Kepa’s £5m release clause, who will compete with compatriot David Raya for the starting spot.
