Report: £25m Everton target set to sign new deal with PL rivals, it's not Kenny Tete

Everton are experiencing some difficulties in this summer’s transfer market.

It has now almost been a full month of transfer activity and David Moyes has only seen Carlos Alcaraz’s stay made permanent.

There is the expectation that Everton will become busier after the turn of the month, as they await the new PSR window.

Everton are going to need plenty of summer signings to really fill out what will soon become a depleted squad due to players leaving at the end of their contracts.

Moyes is keen to add attacking players to provide an improved threat in front of goal on Merseyside.

However, there is now one target who looks set to sign a new deal with his current club despite Everton’s interest.

Daniel James set to ink new Leeds United deal amid Everton interest

It had recently been suggested that Everton were keen on Daniel James from Leeds United as a potential attacking signing.

But it looks as if the Blues will now be able to cross the Wales international’s name off their shortlist.

There is an expectation that an agreement will be struck sometime this week at Elland Road to continue their story together.

Moyes is keen to bring in some new wingers this summer, having felt it was a weak spot from the moment he was appointed.

But it seems as if any interest in James is going to have to be quickly moved on from now.

Everton have already lost out on striker Liam Delap, and it now seems they are losing out on another attacking option to his current club.

Everton could miss out on Kenny Tete to Fulham

Just a matter of hours ago, it looked as if Kenny Tete was set to join Everton, with his Fulham exit seemingly set.

However, there has now been a huge U-turn in the right-back’s future, with Tete now receiving a fresh offer from the Cottagers to stay at Fulham.

This will put a major spanner in the works for Moyes, who will have thought his first new face was set to land on Merseyside.

There is still a lot to play out in this one, but it does appear a major obstacle now needs to be overcome by Everton.
