Darwin Nuñez moving to Serie A has been picking up pace in the Italian media for weeks, with multiple Italian clubs credited with interest in the Liverpool player.
There’s a belief the Uruguayan’s style of football could work well in the country, and that because he’s not on colossal wages at Anfield he’s a workable signing for a number of clubs.
AC Milan were strongly linked towards the end of last week, and in recent days it’s been Napoli pushed towards the front. There’s even been suggestions Darwin Nuñez could have a similar impact at Napoli as his compatriot Edinson Cavani did earlier in his career.
That is, of course, quite the leap of faith.
Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport puts a rather big hurdle in the way of a potential deal. It’s explained again that Napoli are keen, however: ‘The gap between supply and demand remains significant.’
Very significant, because it’s stated Napoli want to go in with a €40m offer, whereas Liverpool want a figure which ‘fluctuates around €70m’.
Whether they could meet in the middle – and specifically at what figure – isn’t known at this stage.
