Man United are weighing up a move for Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (23 June) that United can only move for a new first-choice goalkeeper if Andre Onana leaves the club.
Chevalier has emerged on the radar at Old Trafford with a deal for Emiliano Martinez looking increasingly unlikely.
Aston Villa are also keen on the Frenchman as a potential replacement for the Argentina international.
Martinez has his “heart set” on joining Atletico Madrid, sources say, even though United’s interest remains alive.

The World Cup winner is also wanted by mega-rich clubs in the Saudi Pro League, interest which could complicate the Red Devils’ pursuit of the 32-year-old even further.

The Frenchman has already played 150 senior club games and was in good form for Lille in the 2024-25 campaign – conceding just 53 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets in 48 games across all competitions.
Chevalier’s contract with Les Dogues is set to run until June 2027.
Onana dropped a series of costly clangers between the sticks in the 2024-25 season as Man United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final.

Man United insider shares Mbeumo update
Meanwhile, Man United are reportedly pushing hard to sign Bryan Mbeumo and are continuing talks with Brentford “behind closed doors” after submitting a new bid.
That is according to former scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there.
United have submitted a new offer of £60million including add-ons that has been rejected, but the club have not been deterred and are pressing forward in talks.
