Sky Sports claim Newcastle are interested in move for one of Germany's fastest players

Newcastle United have other transfer targets in mind after seeing a bid for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga rejected.

Newcastle United bid £45million for Elanga, though the offer was shot down by Forest, who would only consider selling him for much more than that.

Indeed, Geordie Boot Boys understands that Forest value Elanga at £60million, so it remains to be seen if Eddie Howe’s side return with a fresh bid.

Fortunately, it seems there are other irons in the fire.

Quickly after the Elanga news broke, Sky Sports provided an update.

Newcastle United interested in Karim Adeyemi

According to Sky, Newcastle have three players in mind as potential alternatives for Elanga.

They tout PSV’s Johan Bakayoko and West Ham star Mohammed Kudus as targets, both of whom have been linked with a move to St James’ Park relatively recently.

Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi is also mentioned as a potential option. The 23-year-old German international is capable of playing across the front line and scored seven goals in 17 Bundesliga starts last season.

Karim Adeyemi is one of the fastest players in Bundesliga history

There’s more to Adeyemi’s game than pace. Indeed, the 1.1 key passes he played on average per game in the Bundesliga last season would have seen him rank sixth in the Newcastle United squad.

Still, his searing speed is one of his key assets. As confirmed by the Bundesliga’s official website in November 2024, Adeyemi is one of the fastest players in the history of Germany’s elite division.

He hit a top speed of 36.65 km/h while playing for Dortmund against Freiburg in 2023, which was the fourth fastest a player has ever been tracked at, when the article was released.

Adeyemi has actually played against Newcastle twice before during their Champions League clashes with Dortmund during the 2023/24 season. In November 2023, he provided the assist from which Julian Brandt scored the second for the German giants in a 2-0 victory against Howe’s side.
